Erin Nicole Brown was born in Detroit and has since lived in thirty different places. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.

In August of 1998, Erin Nicole moved to Chicago to study photography at the Art Institute (SAIC). She bought a used Schwinn mountain bicycle from a local bike shop, commuted ten miles a day to and from college, and fell in love with city life and cycling.

This was also the start of her cycling related art. Compelled by a desire to portray movement in her still images, she strapped her camera to her handlebars and photographed by bicycle at night. After taking an elective course in bookmaking at SAIC, she started making cycling artists books about her experiences riding.

In July of 2000, Erin Nicole transferred to The School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City. She bought a new Fuji road bicycle when moving to the Big Apple. While going to school and assisting photographers, she took a part-time job at Bicycle Habitat in Soho. During her senior year at SVA, her thesis project consisted of environmental portraits of her colleagues at the bike shop. Erin Nicole wanted to give back to the people who taught her the mechanical side of bicycles. Two of these portraits were exhibited at the 2003 Bicycle Film Festival art show, as well as one at the SVA's “Mentor Show” in May of the same year.

She has gone on to exhibit photographs in 2004 at the Garage De Velo in Boston and a group show “Velo” at the Harrison St Café in Richmond. This year she participated in “Joy Ride” which is part of the Bicycle Film Festival. “Joy Ride” was shown at Fountain Head Films in New York City and then traveled to Colette in Paris.

Erin Nicole has been published in Death + Taxes, UrbanVelo.org, Dirt Rag Magazine, Bicycle Retailer, Big Cheese Magazine and many other print and online cycling publications.

In Erin Nicole's spare time, you can catch her riding her bicycle. She enjoys traveling, working on her garden, spending time with friends and taking photographs of them. Her passion for both cycling and photography gives her a unique insider’s perspective and helps create a successful blend of the worlds of both physical movement and still images.
